    Description

This is an extremely fine pair of matched World War II US Class “A” Nuremberg War Crimes Distinctive Insignia that are in excellent condition. This insignia was worn by the 6850th Internal Security Detachment who provided security for the Nuremberg War Crimes trials and defendants. Both insignia are the screw back version that retains virtually all the original paint on the obverse side and is maker marked, “L. CHR. LAUER - NÜRNBERG” on the reverse. This company was in Nuremberg and was the principle supplier and manufacturer of the war crimes patches and insignia. Both insignia are complete with the original screw disk for the threaded post on the reverse side. They were purchased from the estate of the Pratt family of Johnson City, New York and belonged to a family member who was a Military Policeman and guard at the Nuremberg War Crimes trial. They were found in the pocket of a class “A” uniform that had another set of these shields on the lapels. I could not get the jacket but was fortunate enough to obtain the spare set of insignia. An exceptional and perfectly matched pair.
