US MARINE CORPS GUNNERY SERGEANT JOHN BASILONE ORIGINAL SIGNED WAR BOND CARD

Gunnery Sergeant John Basilone signed war bond card.
Original December 7, 1943 war bond “thank you” card signed by John Basilone. There probably a few hundred on these cards that were signed by Basilone during this war bond rally. I have only ever seen these cards that were dated from this historical second anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack. This is the third one that I have seen in person in 40 years of collecting.
Basilone’s Medal of Honor citation is on the reverse side. He achieved celebrity status during early 1943 and was killed in action during the first day on the assault of Iwo Jima on February 19, 1945.
Rare is an understatement for one of these cards. It would look great framed with an original magazine cover of Basilone.
