Nothing is faster than the speed of light! Seriously though, had one of the tool truck guys telling me how fast the refresh rate wasóió. I pointed to my Kal and said, "Faster than that?". I told him I could disconnect the lead on his scope and it wouldn't catch it. But you couldn't do that with my Kal. "Why's that?" He asked. Because my scope moves at the speed of light. Needless to say, ha was shocked when I momentarily removed the leadNow, let's see what the speed of light can do. He was very impressed AND understanding what he was up against. Digital oscilloscopes are great for any toolbox. But for the guy that wants to gain an edge, this is it. I often get asked, "What does an oscilloscope do?" The easiest answer is it measures voltage (up/down) expressed over time (left/right).
The voltage scale on the sensor lead is 5/20/75. I would put the scope on the passenger seat, hooked to the appropriate sensor, ignition coil or injector. Speaking of injectors, that's why the 75 volt scale. Closing the circuit to produce the injection event you'll see upwards of 45-60 volt spike when energizing the injector.
This scope made me a ton of money over the years. Hands down the best for catching those intermittents that prove so hard sometimes. The ignition side has 2 #1 cylinders, gold for conventional and black for DIS. COP or CNP I always kept plenty of good used wires to get all the wires (4 in each coil).
It is a cathode ray tube, think of 50's and 60's television. It needs a few minutes to warm up. The alternator button is GREAT for catching burnt diodes in alternators. Nothing beats a visual view of the alternator. You can actually see where it clips the voltage from the AC current the alternator produces to the DC voltage produced.
Want a leg up on the competition? Want that one tool no one else has? A cathode ray tube is your ticket. Being able to hook up the scope with it sitting on the front seat is awesome. Interesting enough, full throttle runs are a much lower voltage than at a median cruise speed, which is where the problem almost always crops up.
Comes with an HEI adapter and a Toyota adapter. Any others I've needed I've simply attach them whatever gives the best results. Duct tape has been used! No kidding, whatever it takes to get an acceptable view. Not looking forward to shipping this thing, local pickup would be great! I'm 3.5 miles south of Melrose FL on State Road 21. Known as Blanding Blvd to the locals.
The wheels have been through various rigging but are holding great. If I ship this it will require disassembly of the legs and platform. It has various scratches and cosmetic blends but the scope is in excellent condition. "Everything looks better in pictures". Amen to that!
Selling it because I can't use it anymore. A vehicle accident broke my back and I'm paraplegic now. Depending on circumstances might be able to do one of those meet halfway things. Just keep in mind, I'm in a wheelchair.
Wow, just looked at the pictures, should have cleaned it up. But, that's it's every day look in the shop.
